This year’s edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) nominees jam took place at Sunyani Coronation Park,Sunyani-B/A. The jam before the Awards on the 8th of April this year caught the attention of both the Young and Old and had a massive attendance than expected. It had a lot of billled artist which included, Samini, Guru, Mzvee,Medikal,Kofi Kinaata,Nacee,Mabel Okyere,Flow King(Bradez) and the nominees for all the Unsung Category of the nominees.
The show hosted by Amanda Jissih, started with performances from young artist from B/A with the motive of promoting them. Mabel Okyere followed with a great live band performance after Ras Kuuku. Kofi Kinaata set the stage to fire when it was his turn, where he got a massive response from the fans. The energyt Amg Medikal used in perfoming made him end up taking off his suit and shirt because he was on heat.
The gospel artist Nacee turned face of program to the throne of Heaven with some worship songs, but he made the crowd go wild against his dope gospel tunes. Though he raised a allegation against George Quaye on the VGMA Gospel Artist award winning isssue but later made it clear it was with no hard feelings and that is was just a joke. He finally left the stage when Amanda Jissih (Amanda J) pushed him to sing the political hit song of the NDC “Onaapo”.
The Oseikrom rap duo Bradez gave their best performance with hit songs from the oldies to the current songs. The stage performance by Flowking Stone and Kunta Kinte got the Suncity shouting to thier Dope Performances. It was now time for Mzvee, the dancehall diva came to give a rocking live band perfomance.
Brong Ahafo music god Guru, climb to the stage with his NKZ team to give his home fans a great feeling of his music and proved to them why he is B/A’s greatest rapper. He performed from his hitlist to his old songs. The curtains was drawn down by dancehall “Mantse” Samini. The great live band performer got a lot of time to rock the fans with great raggars.
All in all, the maiden edition of the of the Nominees Jam in the Suncity (Sunyani) was great. It had massive response from the people of Sunyani and B/A at large. The 18th Vodafone Ghana Music Award themed “Celebrating 60 years of Ghana Music” comes of on Second Saturday of April,2017.
